What's happening with energy prices in 2026?

Energy prices have come down significantly from their 2022 peak but remain higher than pre-crisis levels. The good news is that prices are forecast to continue falling through 2026, with the April quarterly change already confirmed.

The price cap - set quarterly by the energy regulator Ofgem - limits what suppliers can charge per unit for gas and electricity. It's based on typical usage for an average UK household (around 2,700 kWh of electricity and 11,500 kWh of gas per year), so your actual bill may differ depending on how much energy you use.
